| Name: Ralph Researcher: Ivan Oldford | |||||||||||||||||||
| I am looking for information on the parents of Sarah Ralph who was from Flat Island, Bonavista Bay. She gave birth to an illegitimate daughter Elizabeth in 1843 in Flat Island. Elizabeth went on to marry Benjamin Oldford and they were my Great Grandparents which is where my connection is. Sarah was probably the daughter of family from Port de Grave which is where the Ralphs mostly originated in Newfoundland as far as I understand. Sarah was probably born about 1825, although I am unsure if the birthplace was Flat Island or elsewhere. Any information on Sarah, her parents or anything else of relevance would be appreciated and all replies will be answered. Contact me at TheOldfords@aol.com I am willing to share further information on the descendants of Sarah if it is of interest to others. | |||||||||||||||||||

Hello – I posted several years ago (with email Nokesville@starband) and have changed email addresses – as well as found additional information. I’m still stuck and could use some help. I still do not know who Rebecca Kennedy’s father is (her sibs: Samuel, Elizabeth, and Patience Kennedy). I’m guessing he would have been born around 1825. I have her husband’s name – John Thomas Martin. I’ve found them on census records. I still do not know who John Thomas Martin’s father is. I was contacted at one time by cousins who still live in the family home in Port de Grave but I have misplaced their email – I was busy finishing my MBA and lost track of genealogy research. I will appreciate any and all help. Thank you very much Beverly Martin cunoregon@yahoo.com |

Hi ..... I'm directly decended from Samuel Daw b: abt 1695/6 Ship
Cove, PDG....Samuel had a older brother John b:1694/5......
unfortunately there is no mention of parents for these two sons....
that is my search & also there is no mention of which town/village
the Daw family came from in southern Eng.... they probably started out
in Dorset in the late 1580's & then switched to using ports in
Devon after abt 1650... but this is all pure conjecture. Does anyone
have any GOOD SOLID evidence as to were the Nfld. Daw's were operating
from about 1690???
Love to hear from you.....

My grt. grandmother was Patience Bishop born
about 1832/3 ? at Coley's Point. She married John Richards Dec. 2, 1852 @
Bareneed. John was of Bareneed, Patience of Coley's Point. Witt. to the
marriage were. Emma Roberts, Elizabeth Bishop, Isaac Richards and William
Batten. I have never found the Bap. for Patience despite spending hours at
the Archives in St. John's. Her parents remain a mystery to me, although the
name "Patience Bishop" certainly appears frequently in the local records
before her birth in 1832/3. I have her death certificate---she died April
29, 1904 in Burnt Head, aged 71 years.. This too is strange as I cannot find
any of her children there at the time of her death, although Burnt Head
abounds with Bishops and Richards. I would love to make contact with someone
who could shed some light on this brick wall. kathleen.lopez@rogers.com |
