| The Porter House is situated on a small hill just above the the Fishermans Museum. It was donated by artist/founder George Noseworthy who had originally purchased it from the Porter family of Ship Cove. It was the home of John Charles and Ida (Newell) Porter and their family. The house was used by Noseworthy as an art and music studio back in the 1970’s. | |||||||||||||||||||

In 1978 the home became a part of the Fishermen’s Museum attraction and was restored for visitors. It is currently set up to depict a typical Newfoundland home of the early part of the 20th century. Visitors to Hibbs Cove can visit the home in conjunction with touring the Museum and the old school house. |

The large anchor in front of the house came from the PLM27, one of two ships which was sunk off Bell Island in 1942 by a German U-Boat, resulting in the lost of 40 lives. |
